Lake Skannatati is quite scenic and attracts lots of visitors throughout the seasons. The parking area fills up quickly on weekends and getting there early ensures a parking spot and not running into too many people on the trails. This short loop hike follows both marked trails and an unblazed woods road around Lake Askoti, with a short bushwack to a viewpoint from Pine Swamp Mountain.

I pulled out of the parking area and headed southwest on Seven Lakes Drive. I drove 2.5 miles, turned into the parking area at Lake Skannatati and got ready to hike. I saw a path up the bank so I walked up the road at 11:40 AM to begin the hike.

4: Lake Skannatati Parking Lot – Take Exit 16 off the Palisade Interstate Parkway and continue on Tiorati Brook Rd until you reach the Tiorati Traffic Circle OR take Exit 18 and turn onto Seven Lakes Drive to the Tiorati Traffic Circle. Continue down Seven Lakes Drive along the lake for 2 miles. Parking lot is on your right.
This section starts at the fishing access parking lot off of Seven Lakes Drive at Lake Skannatati, about 0.75 mile north of Kanawauke Circle. From the Palisades Interstate Parkway, take Exit 15, go west on Gate Hill Road and Rockland County Route 106 to Kanawauke Circle, and then go north for 0.75 mile on Seven Lakes Drive. It starts at the Lake Skannatati parking lot and goes around the lake. If you’re like us you’ll want to bring a fishing rod because the trail takes you to some good fishing spots.
